The Sony Airpeak S1: Baller Tech For the Money Hater In All of Us.

Today, Sony has officially announced that they are stepping into the drone market with their new, super-duper-fancy-pants Airpeak S1, a compact drone designed to carry Sony’s Alpha series of compact cameras, along with the FX3 compact cinema camera.

.By developing a proprietary propulsion and sensing system, the drone is capable of flying up to 55 MPH, giving it the capability to follow most vehicles on city roadways, and maintain stable shots in winds up to 44.7 MPH.

.The drone is controlled by an iOS app called Airpeak Flight, which is intended to control the drone, as well as a compatible 3rd party gimbal… Wait, what? Yeah, you heard that right, and for the gigantic price tag that Sony is asking for this thing, it is easily the least they could do. But, fuck you right?

.The Airpeak S1 will release in Fall 2021, and retail for an eye-popping $9,000 USD. Included are a remote controller, two batteries, and a battery charger. A third-party gimbal—you know, like the one in ALL OF THE SUPPLIED PRESS PICTURES—will also be sold separately. If you think that is insult added to injury, that’s because it is… Oh yeah, and Sony really thinks that someone who runs Alpha Series cameras for film would buy this. How much do they think we hate money? More than enough, apparently. Get fucked poors.
